"If I had a thousand years to create, I would still only scratch the surface of the ideas that fill my mind."
John Varriano
Many artists spend their lives crafting and honing a particular artistic style with which to express their creative impulses visually. Among them, a rarefied few discover a genius that touches the collective imagination at a specific moment, securing their place as significant contributors to the contemporary art world.
But what happens when an artistic talent cannot be restrained and may even be too big for the all too human vessel carrying it? With John Varriano, such questions seem reasonable as we encounter an artistic ideal that stands outside the norm of what we have come to expect from art and what we conceive as a creative output possible for one individual to produce.
Varriano appears to ingest, digest, and add his own virtuosic flair to ideas at a profoundly quickened pace. Gifted with exceptional artistic aptitude and tireless devotion to creative expression, he possesses that rare ability to yield a substantial outpouring of both abstract and figurative masterpieces, with each art form enhancing and heightening his proclivity of the other and the extraordinary works he creates.
